62-year old man and his dog killed

Salvador Chavo Marquez, 25, appeared briefly today, August 8th, before Orange County Superior Court Judge Pamela L Isles in Harbor Justice Center in Laguna Niguel.  His arraignment for killing a 62-year old San Clemente man and his dog was postponed until August 25th.

Marquez (DOB 1/3/81) is accused of stabbing and killing Stephen Clark and his small dog in Clark’s home on Esplande Avenue on Sunday, August 6th, then stealing Clark’s car and fleeing the scene.

Marquez faces charges of murder, animal cruelty, use of a deadly weapon and unlawful taking of a vehicle.  He is being held in Santa Ana’s Men’s Central Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Marquez next court date is 1/8/07.
