82 cats removed from odorous California home

On Monday, July 31st, Orange County Animal Control Officers removed 82 cats from the home of Lester McCormick, 51 and his wife Nancy, 51. Neighbors complained that the odor could be smelled three houses away.

The McCormicks stated they took cats into their home when nobody else wanted them and had no idea they had accumulated so many. The believed they had about 30 cats.

The McCormicks kept three cats the ones they had the longest. They will have to pay approximately $70 per cat that was removed from their residence.
