On Tuesday, July 24th, Nueces Animal Control and Houston SPCA rescued an estimated 70 to 100 birds from the home of Horacio Quiroga, 62, who officials stated used his barn to let hundreds of spectators watch as roosters fought to the death.  The fighting ring showed signs of dried bloodstains.
