A juvenile boy

Setting fire to a 3-year-old Chihuahua

Shelltown, CA

Dec. 18, 2000

A juvenile is suspected in the burning of a 3 year old Chihuahua named Cheesepuff while his owners were out of town. Investigators believe a neighbor boy went into the dog owners' yard and set the animal on fire by using a can of green spray paint as a makeshift blowtorch.

When the owners returned home, they found the dog covered in paint and suffering from burns on her face and body. A veterinarian treated the dog for several days, but then the dog was taken to the Humane Society when the owners could not afford to pay for continued care.

The dog should survive but she will remain scarred and will loose a portion of her ears.
