Three teenagers, two boys and a girl, all 17 years old, used a caustic chemical to sear a swastika into the flesh of a 10-year-old appaloosa horse named Anaya. The teens have been charged with cruelty to animals.

The Authorities allege that the juveniles had a dispute with Esther Schmidt, the daughter of the horse owner. The teens poured a chemical hair remover over the horse's head and to brand an 8-inch swastika on the horse's side. The chemical removed the horse's hair and seared its flesh, leaving painful wounds on its head and flank.

One of the boys is also charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment after he sliced the strap of a saddle left in the tack room at the stable.
